Physical Education in our Curriculum
Miss Knapton is our PE Lead.
If you have any questions or would like any more information about PE in our curriculum, please contact Miss Knapton on class dojo.
Statement of Intent
At Alvaston Infant and Nursery School, we aim to create a culture of active and healthy learners to aid the holistic development of the child. To achieve this, our high quality teaching encompasses the personal, social, cognitive, creative and physical development of every child. This equips children with the necessary skills which can be transferred and applied in a range of contexts in their daily lives. Children master fundamental skills which will empower them to confidently access a range of sporting activities, in the hope that children become life-long participants in sport. Through our discrete teaching and enrichment programme, we strive to develop the children’s passion and desire to become budding athletes of the future.
Why do we teach PE?
A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities.
It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness.
Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
What will I be learning about?
You will be:
developing competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
physically active for sustained periods of time
engaging in competitive sports and activities
taught how to lead healthy, active lives.
