Message from Miss Allen >
Thank you for your continued patience and messages of kindness, which you have shared with us. Also, thank you for your comments, feedback and thoughts regarding what you feel we should do to respond to the ever changing pandemic. We have risk assessed the situation, with multiple staff members contracting COVID and we have arrived at a decision regarding next steps. We are still awaiting further results from children. Therefore, please be mindful that these next steps are subject to change, in line with guidance and if cases go up across the school – we do have to be prepared for last minute changes, despite the fact they are incredibly inconvenient.
As of Monday, we are going to offer both remote and in school education, for all year groups. All children will still be able to attend school, should you need them to. I have had many families contact me to say they are concerned about the risk and I completely respect and understand this. If you need to send your child in, please do not send them if they have ANY symptoms of COVID and we ask that they are tested each morning in order to protect other children and our staff. We are doing all we can to ensure working parents are still able to work during this time and that children can still access education. Work packs will be sent home with all children today so that you have access to work, which is closely linked to the work that will be given in class. All staff members will also continue to engage with daily testing to add further safety measures. We have prepared a Year 1 work pack, which is ready for collection. Please use the one way system and collect a work pack from the bench outside of the school’s reception area.
We are hoping that the reduction in class sizes (due to some parents opting to keep their children at home and home educate), and the measures above will reduce transmission. For this reason, we are also making the decision not to send the children to the dining hall. Due to the last minute changes, the catering team will be unable to cater for children, who will be eating in classrooms. Therefore, all children attending school on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday will need to be sent with a packed lunch.
We ask that every parent who chooses to send their child in to school wears a mask, unless exempt. If you enter the school office, please put a mask on. If you are exempt, please wait outside and someone will come out to greet you.
Breakfast and after school club will be open, as normal so that we can continue to support parents and families.
Please trust that this decision has not been an easy one to make but we must do all that we can to ensure children’s, families’ and staff’s health and wellbeing is not compromised. I once again urge you to consider and respect each others’ thoughts views and opinions. No one of us asked for COVID, and yet, whilst we all find ourselves in this storm, we are all in different boats. We all have different circumstances and factors affecting our lives and it is incredibly important to remember to be kind to one another, always.
Kind regards,
Miss Allen
We would welcome any comments and feedback to help us provide a programme which supports our children in the best way possible. As we have said before, the children’s health and well-being is of paramount importance and so is your own! Please spend an appropriate amount of time on activities to suit your child and family’s circumstances. We are aware that parents will also have to work at home and therefore will be ‘balancing’ home and work commitments. We do not intend to put any unnecessary pressure on yourselves or your children so please do your best to support your child.
