Rainbow Reading Challenge!

To further encourage the children’s passion for reading, we have an exciting reading incentive called ‘Rainbow Reading Challenge’. The Rainbow Reading Challenge aims to motivate our children to read as much as possible whilst at home. To do this, we ask that parents, or other adults at home, write in their child’s reading diary each time they read at home. In school, we will then make a record of your child’s home reading on their ‘Rainbow Reading Chart’, which will be stuck into their reading diary. The teacher/ teaching assistant will initial and date this chart weekly. Following this, your child will colour in the number of times they have read in one of the rainbow colours. Each time your child reads 10 times at home, they will receive a certificate and a reward as below:

  • Red level (10 reads)- Certificate and a sticker

  • Yellow level (20 reads)-Certificate and a bookmark

  • Green level (30 reads)- Certificate and a tasty treat such as popcorn or hot chocolate

  • Blue level (40 reads)- Certificate and an invitation to a library party with a teacher

  • Purple level (50 reads) - Certificate and a FREE book, which they can choose!
